When INDRA - an entry level A/C service was introduced by the then undivided APSRTC in 2011, People were sceptical about the performance of this product . Refreshingly, this product was well received. The fleet grew from initial 18 to 50 in very less time . Soon more buses were added to be operated on shorter profitable routes .
Post the bifurcation of Andhrapradesh and Telangana there were news reports of Telangana renaming its INDRA services as "Rajadhani" . The reports also speculated about the possibility of augmenting the ageing fleet with newbies . Few months after these reports TSRTC surprised us with new Garuda Plus . We waited long for the Rajadhani s to arrive as the condition of first gen INDRA s kept deteriorating. As the end of year started approaching there was news of 8 Rajadhani's parked at the new bus parking yard in hyderabad . Ah such a news ! Finally we got a glimpse of much talked about third gen INDRA s being referred ti as "Rajadhani" from now on , We must say we were disappointed at the fist look . The Rajadhani s were sporting a pale green livery.
A week after they arrived in Hyderabad, while we were speculating about the possible new routes , There was news from Nirmal about possible introduction of a Nirmal-Hyderabad service . Happy on hearing this news we were waiting for the official launch , And out of no where TSRTC decided to press the Rajadhani's in to service as the year stated coming to and end . Nirmal - HJyderabad was the first Rajadhani service to be flagged off . Two buses are doing four trips a day between JBS and Nirmal via Armoor . Apart from Nirmal, the second gen INDRA s and older SL s of Warangal operating as Hanamakonda-Hyderabad non stop service got support from two new Rajadhani s .
Over time, more buses were added to the fleet and buses were launched at respective depots by VIPs. Starting december 2016, new buses were not being allotted to the depots as TSRTC was planning to have a grand launch event with more than 300 new buses. We waited for the launch for over four months and finally, here they are. The buses will start working from May 05, just in time for the peak summer demand.
