Semi - Express

Soon after Flagging-off Two New Variants on 04/05/2017, TSRTC came up with yet another New product on 08/05/2017. Though the product was earlier operated with a different name(Merupu) by some depots, it was given an official Name - " SEMI EXPRESS "(ofcourse it happens to be a Decade backs name to the then Express buses of the united corporation).

The new product is the intermediary to Express and Pallevelugu and the reasoning for such introduction is - "duly saving Express buses from Ratinalization process". Guidelines were issued to run these buses only on routes with Pallevelugu operations with high frequency (preferably Bangaru ganulu routes) over a longer route lengths and where Express services are not viable. Moreover it was decided to run these buses on the routes infested with heavy illicit operations through fast moving vehicles like Toofans, Tata Magic/Ace etc.

These buses will offer a faster travel than the existing Pallevelugu buses and at a lesser fare than Express services to the direct passengers and passengers between important stages on the routes. the Basic fare shall be 0.75/km and minimum fare shall be Rs. 10/-. However, as of now no new Buses were procured under this Variant and only replaced Express buses are used.

The Initial routes approved were :-
1) Sangareddy(SRD) - Gajwel Pragnapur(GPP), with route length of 85kms by 12buses &
2) Siddipet(SDPT) - Kamareddy(KMR), with route length of 80kms by 8buses.
& such other routes which fit in the above said guidelines.

11 Hacks to make most of the city buses in Hyderabad

Many of you might hate taking the bus. Some of you might want to take the bus. You might think they are always full and unreliable. I take the bus every time I have to travel in the city. Nothing should stop you from taking the bus. to make most of the city buses in Hyderabad, Read for a few minutes. #Please.

  1. Choose your bus wisely

TSRTC operates 6 brands of buses in Hyderabad and some routes have almost of them running parallel. Choose your bus wisely. Don’t board ordinary buses for long distance journeys. They will only make your travel time longer. Don’t board Deluxe buses for short distances. You will end up spending more.

  1. Choose a better route

Don’t board long distance suburban buses for short trips. Chances are they will get busy by the time you have to get off the bus. Always board a city bus on a shorter route. It is always better if your stop is closer to the destination, you don’t have to fight to get off the bus.
Consider you are traveling from Khairatabad to Koti, board a 218 terminating at Koti instead of a 218D which terminates at Dilsukhnagar. Buses on route no 218 start getting empty after Lakdikapul whereas buses on 218D start getting full at the same place.

  1. Wait for the direct bus

Changing buses in peak hours is painful sometimes. Avoid doing that. Wait for the direct bus. Board bus at the start point if they are full.
If you are traveling back home from  Hitec City to Dilsukhnagar, don't be lured by the occasional empty 127K. It is painful to transfer at Koti in the evenings. Wait for 127K/V instead. Board the bus at Kondapur if you think it will be busy by the time it reaches Hitec City.

  1. Wait for the next bus

Some routes are served frequently. In such cases, let the first bus go. Wait for the next one. That one might not be as busy. You’ll travel in peace.
Say you are traveling from Dilsukhnagar to Ramnagar, don’t hop on the first 107V/R if it is busy. Wait for the next one. That one might not be as busy.

  1. Don't wait for the direct bus

There is always more than one way to travel. Look for alternatives. Be prepared to change buses more than once. You'll save time.
Consider you have to go back to your home in Dilsukhnagar from Masabtank. Don't wait for any of the direct buses or attempt to make a transfer at Koti. Take a 63B mini to Afzalgunj and transfer into a 72J there. Both are frequent. Both avoid congested roads.

  1. Shortest route is not always the quickest

Few routes may look shorter than others on paper but they are not always quick. Make your own judgments about traffic, board a bus that’ll take you to your destination quicker.
Say you have to reach Apollo Hospitals in Banjarahills from Koti. Take the 127K/Z if you can. They take a longer route via road no 10 when compared to the regular 127K on road no 12 but reach Apollo earlier.

  1. Never board at 2nd or 3rd stop of a bus (in peak hours)

Say you have to travel from Dwaraka Nagar/Kothapet to Hitec city for work and are waiting for the bus at Dwaraka Nagar, chances are the bus is going to come full. Board a 222L going towards LB Nagar and continue in the same. You'll get a seat. Trust me it is worth duplicating the trip up to 20 mins when your travel time is more than  an hour

  1. Travel light but don't worry if you have luggage

It is always good to travel light but what if you have to carry a big package to work or you are shifting Hostel (may be ). Observe the buses. Almost all of them have safe spots to dump your luggage.

  1. Always have a bus pass

If you are a frequent traveler in the bus It is a No brainer that you should buy a pass. If you travel once in awhile buy the 24-hour pass. You will save money. Moreover, Bus passes let you make all the journeys in peace and make transfers hassle free.

  1. Never lose the ticket

Don’t panic if you forget your luggage in the bus. Bus number, depot name and driver/ conductor’s employee IDs are printed on your ticket. If you are traveling by a bus pass remember to at least make a note of the depot name. It is always painted on the front and rear next to destination board. Call the depot manager and they will coordinate with the driver/ conductor to find your luggage.

  1. Be nice to the crew

If you travel regularly on one particular bus chances are the crew is same every day. Talk to them, exchange numbers. They will keep you updated about the service.

Bonus Tip: Know your territory

None of the tips I mentioned earlier will work if you don't know your territory. It will help make your journeys better. Nothing should make you not take the bus. Understand the network and make the most of it.

Happy journey!

VAJRA buses Launch - An Organiser's Experience..!!

Well the Title of the post might seem similiar to one of our previous posts "Metro Luxury Launch - An Author's Experience", But the Experience that we gonna share is Completely Different. This time from an Organiser's Perspective.

It was past 6months ago that a Revolutionary Vehicle for Public Transport was designed by the youngest RTC viz. Telangana State RTC. Brand named as "VAJRA" with a caption of "Mobility Redefined", it is the corporation's initiative for implementing the most pleasing words of  "Service at your Door Step".

(Refer to our Previous post -http://loveofz.blogspot.in/2017/05/vajramobility-redefined.html for Complete Details of this Bus)

Since then the deliveries were on the go and initially planned to be launched for 2016 Diwali, by which as the required number weren't delivered, the Launch was postponed to 26th Jan of 2017. Though it was a long gap of postponement, the concept of the bus made everyone to wait with patience. Again it was postponed from  26th Jan to 1st Week of Feb. Just a week gap this time. Then came the MLC election code upto 18th March during which it was decided not to Launch as it would lead to a misunderstanding for a publicity stunt by ruling party. But this time, the eager waiting started to dilute as there were one after the other reason to be postponed.

Weeks passed even after the MLC election results were out but still no sign of Launch. Hopes were building as Peek summer has arrived and the corporation would give a summer bonanza. No Luck yet. Then came a sweet and most relaxing news to the corporation on May Day, allowing it to Plan a launch for 3rd May. Everyone at the corporation were planning for a Grand Launch of 300+ buses which were at stand still in the New Bus Parking Yard & Hyderabad-III depot. But as the news went in detail, it was said that the CM would be launching them from his Camp Office(Pragathi Bhavan). Blast!! Hopes crashed faster than the WTC towers.

Pragathi Bhavan, a place which could hardly fit in some 10-15 buses. Though some experts claim "Nothing is better than Non-sense". The Grand plans of the organisation made it to stay positive with "Something is better than Nothing". A short duratined meeting was held and decided to place 2each of VAJRA, Pallevelugu Mini, Express, Super Luxury, Rajadhani & Scania Bio-diesel Garudaplus.

The Day before Launch - Started with a bit challenging task of Selecting the 12 out of 300+ buses. Initially Express selection was with a minimal effort as only 8 were available. Pallevelugu Mini selection was much easier as only 4-5 out of 50 were ready with wheel caps. Then came the challenging task of Super Luxury selection. Selecting 2 out of 150+ is really justifyable to be challenging task. Almost few hours were gone in it. Finally could come up with only 1. Rajadhani selection was No Big deal as most were selectable enough. Scania however were only 2 and it was No deal at all. Here comes the most important task of selecting the main Brand to be launched, the VAJRAs. Team Mahindra & Mahindra helped in easily Completing our Task. Though few selected buses were replaced due to Normal irregularities, it was not of much intense work. Minutes before the Finalization came yet another Bad news(not completely) that the Launch being Cancelled for 3rd May & chances of being postponed to 5th May. Hmm... Now this feeling is really bad to end your day.

Well as even 3rd May was Not the Day before Launch, Normal atmosphere prevailed everywhere. At the closing of the day yet another news came whcih made 3rd May to be the Day before Launch. Yes... Shockingly and as u have correctly guessed, 4th May was Scheduled for the Launch. Confused mix of feelings now. Bang!! started the preparations for the Launch. Work done on 2nd May saved many manhours. Calls everywhere, Busy everyone. Day didn't end, continued into early hours of 4th May.

Now here Comes the Most awaiting Day since past Many months.
