the 28Z ordinaries

EARLY 28Z

A major design shift from the earlier ordinaries which had smaller box windows , the last panel of the sleeve of these ordinaries were a bit sloping . These continued the old green/cream color interiors and had a single seat facing opposite side behind the rear door .

MID 28Z

These look same as the earlier ones apart from the last panel which was made straight . These were introduced along with the second generation metro express with middle door .

LATER 28Z

These were the last of ordinaries registered as  "28Z" and had a major design shift . These were the first ordinaries to feature stick on glass over the window panes and the earlier box type windows with aluminium frames were replaced with glass only panes which are in wide use now . These have a gasket (?) on one pane to stop rain water entering inside . Also, the single seat behind the rear door was removed from this model . these had rear split wind shield at rear too .

It is Festive Time again and hence the increase in passengers going to their home towns has exploded as expected . Tickets to all services leading to coastal districts have been booked and the special buses announced earlier too have been filled. Hence, APSRTC is planning to run 3000+ special services staring from Hyderabad to All the coastal districts depending on demand from 09-01-2013 to 13-01-2013 . Passengers will be charged 50% extra of the existing fare for the special services as is the practice.

There has been a large public outrage over apsrtc charging extra for the special services. But, APSRTC's officials are helpless. They say the extra fare should be ccollected to achieve at least brak even leave alone profits.

Dilsukhnagar

Owning to the festive rush, APSRTC has introduced special buses to different destinations from Hyderabad from 19-10-2012 to 22-10-2012 . of the special buses going out of the city, Special and Regular services scheduled towards Nalgonda,Miryalguda,Kodada will leave from Dilsukhnagar ditrict bus terminal .
The festive rush has added more traffic to the already busy Rajeev Chowk . The Dilsukhnagar bus terminus with mere 5 bus bays cannot handle the rush. Hence, the open area opposite the Bus Terminus which is now being used as the city bus stop too will be used for district buses . The city bus stop and the city bus terminus opposite venkatadri theatre (vegetable market) have been clubbed for time being from 19-10-12 to 22-10-12.

Festive Time

It is festive time again and holidays for school going children and colleges too , Dasara is an important festival in Telangana and people won't want to miss the fun in their villages staying back in Hyderabad . Hence, the demand for more buses and trains. Both Indian Railways and APSRTC have geared up for the situation and special buses, trains have been pressed in to service.

APSRTC is running special buses to all major towns . Sorry to say i don't have the exact details of the services. To cope up with the heavy rush, APSRTC, as it does every festive season has diverted/changed the boarding/originating points of buses going to different destinations from 19-10-12 to 22-10-12.

All special and regular buses going towards
 > > Kurnool,Kadapa,Anantapuram,Chittoor will originate from old C.B.S Hangar.
> > Nalgonda,Miryalguda,Kodada will originate from Dilsukhnagar.
> > Karimnagar,Nizamabad,Adilabad,Medak,Narayankhed,Siddipet will originate from JBS.
> > Warangal,Hanmakonda,Janagam,Narsampet,Parakala,Yadgirigutta will originate from Uppal 'X' Roads.

 * all the Garuda,Garuda Plus,Vennela services have been exempted from the changes and they will originate from their scheduled points itself.

All the passengers and people planning to go to their respective home towns are requested to note the changes and plan their journey accordingly.

Carrying Stuff ?

Are you an architecture student ? Carrying our stuff in bus is often a problem given the peak time rush in buses. Then how do we tackle the problem ? where do we keep our T squares, bag even  models and foam boards some times . It is not a problem if we get a seat . what if not ? if people sitting do not even care to help us by holding the t square at least .

Surprisingly city buses in Hyderabad,Vijayawada Visakhapatnam and Tirupati  have a lot of space left unused where we can put our stuff.

City Sheetal & Metro Deluxe :

                                   Metro Deluxe                                      City Sheetal

The TATA - Marcopolo City Sheetal and Metro Deluxe buses in Hyderabad,Vijawada and Vizag have 3 major places where we can put our materials to free our hands while standing and sleep while sitting . as indicated in the section below.

On the Front Wheel :
The portion over front wheel which projects out from the floor (because it is a low entry bus) has only one row of seats leaving the place behind it empty . The place can be used to put our bags , models and foam boards/mount boards etc. There are hand rails fixed on it. hence, one can even tie in case it is a long journey. The place may be dusty , carrying a news paper or some old sheets may solve the problem .

On the Rear Wheel :
The rear portion of bus is raised to accommodate the engine . But, the portion over wheel is raised over the normal floor level . There are seats on either sides of wheel cap in the rear but the seats on both sides shield the bags/roll packs from falling down when travelling on slopes.

On the Engine :
In marcopolo buses , The rear part is not usable because of the place occupied by the engine the compartment below the seats. Marcopolo classifies this place as "Boot Space" . There is a lot of place here where we can put our entire semester's work including the model. This is the most dirtiest place in bus with layers and layers  of dust but as said earlier a news paper can save the materials from getting dusted.

For example, I carried 3 foam boards , 40 ivory sheets , a T square and a bag one day from Dilsukhnagar-Patancheru in a TATA  marcopolo Metro Deluxe. The rear portion was not clean as usual but who cares , a waste paper which I got from the Conductor served the purpose.

Over the Rear Mount Engine .

Metro Express :

                           TATA-ACGL 1618C                Ashok Leyland - Viking. (EDC)

The Semi Low Floor (SLF) JnNURM metro express buses which flooded the roads of major cities in Andhra Pradesh have a lot of place un used thanks to the semi low floor chassis which forces the coach builders to build the bus with seats facing each other .

On the front wheel :

Left Side .                                       Right Side / Behind Driver's cabin.

On the Rear Wheels :

     Right Side.

The Wheel Cap on the rear is different on left an right side . The cap on right side has a pillar to hold while the cap on left does not have a cap .

Seat Handles :

Thanks to the JnNURM rules and some handsome work by ACGL , The buses have handles fixed on every  seat which can be used to put our t squares and rol packs can be hung to the T square .

**This is it for now.  Will update on city ordinaries once I have some nice pictures.
