Are you an architecture student ? Carrying our stuff in bus is often a problem given the peak time rush in buses. Then how do we tackle the problem ? where do we keep our T squares, bag even models and foam boards some times . It is not a problem if we get a seat . what if not ? if people sitting do not even care to help us by holding the t square at least .
Surprisingly city buses in Hyderabad,Vijayawada Visakhapatnam and Tirupati have a lot of space left unused where we can put our stuff.
City Sheetal & Metro Deluxe :
Metro Deluxe City Sheetal
The TATA - Marcopolo City Sheetal and Metro Deluxe buses in Hyderabad,Vijawada and Vizag have 3 major places where we can put our materials to free our hands while standing and sleep while sitting . as indicated in the section below.
On the Front Wheel :
The portion over front wheel which projects out from the floor (because it is a low entry bus) has only one row of seats leaving the place behind it empty . The place can be used to put our bags , models and foam boards/mount boards etc. There are hand rails fixed on it. hence, one can even tie in case it is a long journey. The place may be dusty , carrying a news paper or some old sheets may solve the problem .
On the Rear Wheel :
The rear portion of bus is raised to accommodate the engine . But, the portion over wheel is raised over the normal floor level . There are seats on either sides of wheel cap in the rear but the seats on both sides shield the bags/roll packs from falling down when travelling on slopes.
On the Engine :
In marcopolo buses , The rear part is not usable because of the place occupied by the engine the compartment below the seats. Marcopolo classifies this place as "Boot Space" . There is a lot of place here where we can put our entire semester's work including the model. This is the most dirtiest place in bus with layers and layers of dust but as said earlier a news paper can save the materials from getting dusted.
For example, I carried 3 foam boards , 40 ivory sheets , a T square and a bag one day from Dilsukhnagar-Patancheru in a TATA marcopolo Metro Deluxe. The rear portion was not clean as usual but who cares , a waste paper which I got from the Conductor served the purpose.
Over the Rear Mount Engine .
Metro Express :
TATA-ACGL 1618C Ashok Leyland - Viking. (EDC)
The Semi Low Floor (SLF) JnNURM metro express buses which flooded the roads of major cities in Andhra Pradesh have a lot of place un used thanks to the semi low floor chassis which forces the coach builders to build the bus with seats facing each other .
On the front wheel :
Left Side . Right Side / Behind Driver's cabin.
On the Rear Wheels :
Right Side.
The Wheel Cap on the rear is different on left an right side . The cap on right side has a pillar to hold while the cap on left does not have a cap .
Seat Handles :
Thanks to the JnNURM rules and some handsome work by ACGL , The buses have handles fixed on every seat which can be used to put our t squares and rol packs can be hung to the T square .
**This is it for now. Will update on city ordinaries once I have some nice pictures.
